There are multiple rebuild kits from different manufacturers available on the market. Almost all of them offer the same standard parts, plus additional ones you can choose to include.
Ultimately, a standard 6R80 rebuild kit contains the following components:
- Friction clutch plates
- A complete overhaul kit, including all gaskets, seals, and O-rings
- A transmission filter.
This standard 6R80 transmission rebuild part list costs between $300-$500. The price mainly depends on the manufacturer and the quality of the parts.

Alternatives to Rebuilding a 6R80 Transmission
We’ve mentioned earlier that there are two alternatives to rebuilding a 6R80 transmission. You can either purchase a used one or remanufacture the one you have.
Buying a used transmission is the cheaper option. The prices of used 6R80 transmissions often range between $500-$1,500.
There is a downside to this, however. For example, if you purchase and install a used transmission that doesn’t run properly, you must pay additional costs for removal and reinstallation.
Besides, used transmissions may fail anytime because you can’t know when they’ve last been serviced.
Buying a remanufactured transmission or remanufacturing your own is almost the same as rebuilding it. The main difference is with the remanufacturing process; each component of the 6R80 transmission is returned to manufacturing standards.
On the other hand, the rebuilding process only includes inspection, cleaning, and replacing OEM with third-party manufactured broken or worn parts.
